StataNow 19.5: New Feature Highlights
We are pleased to present the latest features of StataNow 19.5.
1) Difference-in-Differences with switching treatments
With the new xtswitchdid command, difference-in-differences analyses can be performed for panel data with multiple treatment levels as well as groups that switch between different treatment states. The method allows for investigating how a result changes over time after a change in treatment. Additionally, treatment-specific paths can be analyzed and event-study effects can be displayed graphically.

2) Spatial error covariance structures for multilevel models (Update from July 29, 2026)
The mixed command now supports four spatial error covariance structures: exponential, Gaussian, spherical, and power. This allows for modeling correlations between errors that depend on the spatial distance between observations. The new structures are suitable for spatial data as well as intensive longitudinal data with irregular time intervals, among others.

3) Multiple frames in the Data Editor (Update from July 29, 2026)
With the new feature, you can view and edit multiple datasets simultaneously in the Data Editor. You can easily switch between different frames. Furthermore, data can be copied and pasted directly from one frame to another. The File, Data, and Tools menus each operate within the context of the currently selected frame.

Additional Improvements
In addition to these three new features, the update brings further improvements to StataNow 19.5. These include, among others, optimized functions for executing selected lines in the Do-file Editor, faster estimation with xtgls, the new Mata function quantile(), extensions for HDFE interactions, as well as improvements to hdidregress, xthdidregress, bayesmh and putpdf. The Do-file Editor has also been updated with a new bracket matching feature.
